2019 Travels A Year in Review

Part 1

Looking for a new home?

I am sure I should have been writing all along about our travels this past year instead of condensing it into a few blogs, but here goes. Let’s start with our decision to purchase a new RV.

We began with travels to our home in Florida to visit Gerry’s mom and sister. While there we were able visit Tampa’s RV Super Show to look over Lance and other travel trailer manufacturers. We had decided by late 2018 that we wanted to sell our Tiffin motorhome and Sonic toad (tow vehicle) and look for something smaller with off road capabilities. Gerry had done quite a bit of online research and had found Outdoor RV out of Oregon. He liked this brand for the all season insulation and suspension built for off road adventures. Last October, while visiting Santa Fe, we had made a side trip to the Outdoor RV dealer in Poncha Springs, Colorado to view the 25RDS model.

After arriving back to Rachel and Mark’s home in Austin, we listed the Tiffin and Sonic in RV Trader and RVT. Luckily, we were able to sell both rather quickly and for a fair price. The couple that purchased the Tiffin were moving up from an older class C and were delighted with the condition and space of the motorhome. The Sonic was sold to another couple who were going to continue to use it as a tow vehicle. Both were nice couples who made us feel they would enjoy the motorhome and car as much as we did. We will look back fondly on our travels in the Tiffin but we were ready to explore in a different way.

We were always a sedan and minivan family and in February we purchased our first truck. We found a 2018 Ram 2500 4×4 diesel off road (with beauty lights as Gerry calls them) capable of pulling the future Outdoor RV we were hoping to purchase. A monster to me after driving a Sonic for two years!

By March 2019 and after several discussion with Holiday RV in Poncha Springs, CO we made our purchase. We had decided on the Outdoor RV 25RDS because of its rear dining table with a large picture window. A view we never had in the motorhome.
